Design & Planning

We’ve all been in homes that feel particularly comfortable and inviting – places where everyone feels good. By contrast there are also homes that feel cold and uncomfortable where one just can’t wait to leave.

Subtle design changes can make a home feel inviting and comfortable where one feels cosy and  there is a logical flow from one room to the next and also to the outdoors.

Your home should be a place where you want to be – where you can relax and feel safe and where you feel inspired and happy.

Our challenge is to design a home that works for you, fits your block, is environmentally sensitive, and aesthetically pleasing, and fits your budget.

Qualdel has an outstanding track record for being able to consistently provide homes especially for each client that are comfortable, inviting, and a pleasant place to be in.

The design process can vary considerably depending on your needs.

Before we begin designing a new home we spend time with you to find out about your needs, your tastes, and your ‘wish list’, to give us a better understanding of what you want to achieve.  Design is an individual process and as such your input is most important to us.  We take your ideas and blend them into a home that suits your every need.

We can even help you choose a suitable block if you wish.

Or you can choose one of our many designs, and modify it to achieve the same sort of result.

If you already have finished plans again we can work with you to create your dream home.

Designing a custom built home, especially for you, can take up to 2 months to finalise a concept plan with which you are entirely satisfied.  The time of course depends on the size and complexity of the design, your availability, and our workload.

With our 3D design software there is always the opportunity to sit beside Jan and work things through trying various possibilities, and making modifications quickly and easily, and most importantly, economically.

We place emphasis on achieving;
  1. a floor layout that suits you and your family’s needs,
  2. an architectural style of your choice which is aesthetically pleasing,
  3. a plan that fits your budget,
  4. a design that suits your land,
  5. a good relationship between indoor and outdoor living areas,
  6. adequate sunlight which makes a difference to the feel of your home,
  7. a home that is naturally comfortable and as energy smart as possible, and
  8. a quality finished product

Jan as both a Certified Kitchen and Bathroom Designer pays special attention to the detailed layout and finishes of all kitchens and bathrooms.  Often these areas are given far less attention than they deserve.  Rather than a tiny design on a house plan, we create large scale drawings showing floor plans, elevations, and perspectives, giving you a much more accurate and realistic picture which solves a lot of problems before they arise.

If you feel naturally comfortable in your home, it is sure to have the temperature, colours, spaces and furnishings which are pleasing to you.  It should not be forgotten that there is always a cost to uncomfortable living.

Savings can be considerable if your home is designed properly by minimising wasted space and being energy wise.   Sensible energy savings can be easily achieved by considering our expert advice and so putting together an energy smart package.
